Thursday, December 26, 1940 HARDMAN NEWS Schools Present Xmas Program By ELSA M. LEATHERS The high school and grade school put on a very good Christmas pro gram Thursday evening. School was dismissed early Friday with Miss Ruth Eversole going to her home at Shedd; Miss Cecile Bell to Eu gene; Miss Lois Hewitt to Milton; Miss Lurline Sparks to Pendleton. Heppner Gazette Times, Heppner, Oregon School will reopen Jan. 6th. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reed left for Spokane Saturday morning to spend the holidays with their family. Kinard McDaniel and daughter Ramona sent Sunday at oLnerock. A. R. Williams, field man for the WPA trappers, from Baker, visited C H. McDaniel, the trapper here. Jack DeVore was attending to business in town Saturday. Mrs. Carl McDaniel spent several days visiting at the O. H. Leathers home. PETERSON'S JEWELRY STORE CHRISTMAS CHEER 1 YEAR AFTER YEAR GILLIAM & BISBEE Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reid came j over from the Zornes logging camp and will stay until after the holidays. Mrs. Marion Saling and children of Heppner are visiting at the J. J. McDonald home. Sabin Hastings was elected at the grade school meeting to fill the un expired term of L. C. Batty, resign ed. Donald and Creston Robinson came to town Saturday evening, re turning .to the ranch Sunday. Rita Robinson, who attended high school in Heppner went home Sunday also to spend the two weeks vacation. Misses Mary and Ann Mclntire and Clarabel Adams are home from college for the holidays. Mrs. C. H. McDaniel and son re turned after a two weeks' visit to Portland, Vancouver and Woodburn where they have relatives, and Mrs. McDaniel's father, Chas. Emory, at Jefferson. Miss Rita Mclntire is the only one known at this writing to have the flu in this community. Mrs. Vern Cecil and Guy Chapin were in town from the W. H. French ranch Monday. Mr. French is visit ing his daughter in Portland, and spent a week at the coast. His health has improved since going to Port land. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Brannon went to Portland to spend- the holi days with Mrs. Brannon's parents. Mrs. Sam McDaniel, Jr., who- was recently operated on at Pendleton is able to be up and about her home again. Word was received here that Aus tin Devin's mother, Mrs. M. J. Devin, passed away Sunday afternoon at Heppner. Miss Pat Bleakman came home from Krebs ranch at Cecil where she works, to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Bleakman.
